Thank you.Īs someone who will fap to any one of any gender. So I would like to apologize to anyone I offended, but I also will not change my opinion to cater to artists that want me to like their work simply on the grounds that it is their right to do what they want-that's completely true, but it doesn't mean I have to "like" the art in the context that I described in the original post. I'm thinking that people in the comments (particularly artists themselves) are having a hard time reconciling those two thought processes. There is a difference in my mind between viewing a piece of art and recognizing the talent, effort, and time that went into it and seeing it as a well done piece of work, and on the other hand not finding it appealing. As a viewer, I have an opinion that an artist cannot control.
Overwatch fan art license#
Just as artists have creative license to do whatever they want with their art-and as a viewer I do NOT have the right to dictate what they do. I totally get that-and I never said (or at least didn't intend to come across) like I thought this type of fan art shouldn't exist. I'm still seeing a lot of "it's their art, let them do what they want" "who are you to tell an artist what to do? That's disrespectful" "it's not hurting anyone".
Overwatch fan art how to#
I did note that most of the disagreement was on the grounds of defending the artists, so I also wanted to say that I would never tell someone how to do their fan art, this was just my opinion specifically related to the sexualization of characters and if that was appealing to you or not, it is interesting seeing different takes on this, particularly the male perspective so thank you for that.Įdit 2: (if anyone is still even seeing this for the first time/re-reading it).

I would think that keeping the proportions true to the character (and clothing them with as little or as much as desired) would be more of a turn on because it's-ya know-them? Or maybe I'm wrong and the bigger the better :PĮdit: Holy crap! This post turned into one hell of a discussion! Thank you for all of the discussion, and to those that disagreed with me-I really appreciate how you've been really respectful and have backed up your opinions with some great points. it's just not D.Va or Mercy anymore, it's just some hot character. Am I the only one that thinks over doing the proportions in fan art takes away the point of seeing the hero in a sexy way? Don't get me wrong-the fan art looks great, but when you give D.Va a giant ass or Mercy DDDs.
